Stepping into the shoes of people with T2 diabetes – conceptualisation, art direction and design for a congress digital experience.

Research told us that sometimes diabetes specialists were so focused on the disease, they’d forget there were patients who were having to work hard to manage their condition in everyday situations.

So the aim of this interactive experience was to encourage congress delegates to empathise with patients by placing them directly into a patient’s day. They could then see clearly how simple daily events were affected by having to manage their diabetes.

The app tells a ‘day-in-the-life’ story, in which Tom, a person with T2 diabetes is invited by friends to a basketball game, but needs to take far more into consideration than simply remembering his house keys before leaving the house. The app also highlighted key features and benefits of the product which would help Tom manage his diabetes throughout his day and acted as a conversation-opener for brand sales reps.

Scamping the storyboard through to the final creative output, I was responsible for wire framing through to UI design of the app and worked with art directors to finalise the photographic output.
